The Next Few Days...

The next few days, I'll be having silly time with my bff Marissa. Family vacay is over and it was SO much fun!!! Now it's time to spend some QT with my old college roomie. We spent many days and nights camped out in the living room watching seasons of the OC and Entourage until our butts fell asleep.

I always got the couch while Marissa invented "the canoe" which involved facing the 2 wingback chairs together and lounging out like it's a bed.
(Why don't I have a picture of this?)

While she lives across the country in LA, I think I talk to her more often than some of my friends who live in the same state! Usually our convos are pretty entertaining. Here's a glimpse into our beautiful friendship.

So if you're wondering where I am... I'm probably trying to re-create the canoe and watching Summer Catch or more likely She's The Man with my bff!

Media Whore

I've become somewhat of a Media Whore recently... from Pinterest to Bravo to TripAdvisor, I'm pretty much always tuned into something. So here I am to share my whore findings for you all :)

I joined {begged everyone I knew for an invite}Pinterest and am totally obsessed! How do I get a job working for this company? Finding cute things on the internet is kinda my thing...
Here are my a few of my favorites so far:

This reminds me of the fried zucchini appetizer I looooove from Pepper's in Utica Square!

Cannot wait to try this hairstyle!

Looking forward to rocking a similar outfit in San Fran next week!

Did you all watch the premier of Real Housewives of New Jersey?!!? O. M. G. talk about some drama!
Poor Teresa, her brother was totally at fault for that whole argument, not to mention he was about 17 drinks past what he should have had at his child's baptism! Yikes!

It looks like it's going to be a good season! Caroline is and will always be my fave, her and her family could do a spinoff and I'd watch for sure!

I saw Something Borrowed last week and thought it was a really cute movie BUT I have to agree with California Wife in that Kate Hudson's wardrobe was awful and I'll even take it one further, Gennifer Goodwin's wardrobe was also heinous. And don't get me started on the hair and makeup. Woof!
Whoever styled this movie needs to be fired b/c if you can make Kate Hudson look that bad you're clearly bad at your job. Just sayin.

If you read the book - the above dress is when they all went out in the Hamptons the first night and Darcy apparently had an amazeballs designer dress on - in the movie - not so much.
Mom-shorts are never a good look.
I guess this dress isn't terrible but paired with the shoes it definitely is not the best look.
This hair doesn't look that bad here, but trust me it was hard to look at in the actual movie.

The movie overall was good, it did the book justice and I appreciated that. It's just that I kept cringing with every new outfit that was presented it was hard to loooove it. ya know? Oh and the movie would have totally sucked without John Krasinksi, he was a breath of fresh air. Also I read an interview with him recently where he said he enjoys being in Rom Comedies and that he'd stay on the office forever b/c he owes his entire career to it. Love it when celebrities are so down to earth!

Not sure why you'd know this, or even care, but I also think the same thing about an Amanda Bynes movie. Yeah, that's right I've seen most of her work, get over it.
She was supposed to be the super hot girl in Sydney White and this is what her hair looked like the entire movie!
I mean what is that?? Do you ever put your hair in a ponytail then pull out ALL the front pieces and leave them stuck to your face? Um no.

Please let me know if there's any other media I'm missing! Lord knows I'll find time for it! :)

Recent Ramblings: Dave's Brain on Finals Edition

Dave had his last final yesterday so in his defense I believe his brain is fried.
This is the conversation we had last night:

Me: Ugh my sister got Bethenny's yoga dvd and I want it! Can you upload it to iTunes and then burn me a dvd?
Dave: Huh? Yogadvds? I don't know how to do that?
Me: You don't know how to do yoga or burn a dvd?
Dave: Both, ugh this is too much I'm in the middle of doing something (standing up to get a beer)

I'll be happy when his brain bounces back and we can have a normal conversation...

Week in Pictures

Junior League Event - River boat cruise with appetizers and champagne? You know I signed up for that the second I could!
I managed to drag Dave away from studying to watch the Thunder game for an hour at a bar down the street that has the most amazing "gourmet tots". (In case you're wondering, gourmet tots have cheese and ham baked into the tot!)

Mother's Day Carrot Cake - celebrated early with Dave's mom on Thursday! Talk about YUM!
While getting ready for the Blake Shelton concert, I found an insane amount of bolo ties in my dad's closet.
Do you think he has enough?

Blake Shelton Concert in Tulsa on Friday night!!!

Had some amazing after concert nachos at Toby Kieth's in the Hard Rock!

Dave's inner Ace Ventura came out at my parents house with their dogs and ours!
We left my mom a Mother's Day surprise for when she arrived home from Houston for the weekend!
Some pretty flowers, beautiful frames I scored at TJ Maxx not too long ago and a personalized card from TinyPrints! She loved it!

Celebrating my friend Ashley's birthday, she wanted everyone to "Wig Out" (I borrowed a wig from my friend, that looked like Teresa from RHONJ)
And a little like Rambo when Dave tried it on..
Dave left to go study while we all went out to Groovy's (the local cougar bar/disco)
I ditched my wig... it was hot and I couldn't get my hair to stay up under it. But I now know that Wigs are super fun! This years Halloween costume will most likely involve a fun wig!
Der-ek Zoo-land-er Blue Steel!
Sunday I laid out in the backyard a little and made a homemade pizza while Dave studied!

I take a lot of pictures of food... hope you don't mind!

Happy Cinco De Mayo!!

We celebrated Cinco de Mayo one day early with some delicious homemade tostadas!
I used the recipe from Pearl Handcuffs and Happy Hour, but I substituted ground beef instead of chicken. And I used salsa instead of Taco Seasoning (because I didn't have any) but they were still SO good!
Nigel thought it looked good!

And because I know you all like to be the smarty pants of the group, here are some fun facts about Cinco de Mayo!
Cinco de Mayo Fun Factoids!
{source}

  • Americans on this holiday alone are expected to consume more than 70 million pounds of avocados, according to the California Avocado Commission
  • Although Mexican immigrants observed Cinco de Mayo here as far back as the 1860s, some researchers have traced the first recognized festival to a group of California college students searching for a meaningful way to celebrate their Mexican heritage in the 1960s.
    • Thanks to commercialism, some say Cinco de Mayo since has gone the way of St. Patrick’s Day (Fine by me!) and become nothing more than an excuse to party.
    • Cinco de Mayo is often confused with another Mexican holiday with more cachet south of the border: Dieciséis de Septiembre, which celebrates Independence Day.
    • Conventional wisdom has it that US marketers had a clever hand in catapulting to popularity Cinco de Mayo, partly because it just rolls off the tongue even if you speak no Spanish. Now try saying Dieciséis de Septiembre.
    • Fiesta Broadway, held in downtown Los Angeles, is considered the largest Cinco de Mayo celebration not just in the United States but also around the globe.

    • In Chandler, Ariz., near Phoenix, the festival’s main attraction consists of dog races featuring 150 Chihuahuas and the coronation of a Chihuahua king and queen. Ay ay ay!
Also, how cute are these margarita cupcakes?!

I'm looking forward to a Skinny Girl Margarita tonight!!! I hope you all have a great Cinco!
